Ginger has within it so many constituents, that I consider it an herbal formula as a stand- alone herb.  When mixed with other herbs it acts as a carrier herb, enhancing the properties of all other herbs used with it.  The following are all Dr Christopher formulas:

 

Fresh Ginger   Can be eaten alone for the value to the teeth or eaten with foods.

 

Compound of Turkey Rhubarb and Ginger

2 oz.                Turkey rhubarb root, powder (Rheum palmatum)

½ oz.               Ginger root, powder (Zingiber officinalis)

Hepatic

1 part               Wahoo, fluid extract (Euonymus astropurpureus)

4 parts             Ginger, syrup (Zingiber officinalis)

 

Menstrual problems (dysmenorrheal, amenorrhea)

1oz.                 Pleurisy root (Asclepias tuberose)

1/2oz.              Blue cohosh (Caulophyllum thalictroides)

½ oz.               Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa)

1/4oz.              Ginger (Zingiber officinalis)

 

Gravel, Kidney and Bladder problems

1oz.                 Buchu, powder (Agathosma betulina; A. crenulata)

½ oz.               Uva ursi, powder (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi)

1oz.                 Parsley root, powder (Petroselinum crispum)

1oz.                 Gravel root,powder (Eupatorium purpureum)

1/2oz.              Ginger, powder (Zingiber officianalis)

 

Bronchial catarrh

1oz.                 Blue cohosh root, cut (Caulophyllm thalictroides)

1oz.                 Comfrey root, cut (Symphytum officinale)

1/2oz.              Pleurisy root, cut (Asclepias tuberose)

2 teaspoons     Lobelia her (Lobelia infata)

            1/4oz.              Ginger root (Zingiber officinalis)
