THE BENEFITS OF THE USE OF GARLIC
IN HERBAL PREPARATIONS
KNOWN HERBAL FORMULAS OF GARLIC
One formula listed here among the many formulas should be Dr. Christopher anti-plague formula. This formula has been used with great success when flu epidemics have broken out in various communities. The combination of herbs is effective in boosting the immune system to work against viruses and bacteria.
Step one in making the anti-plague formula is to make an extraction of garlic juice and vinegar. Using 8 parts apple cider vinegar and 2 parts garlic juice, determine how much herb to use by deciding how much formula you want to make, such as a gallon, 128 ounces or 4 liters, and divide this by the total of parts in the formula. The anti-plague formula has 22 parts. This means you will need 32 ounces of apple cider vinegar, 8 ounces of garlic juice and 4 ounces of the individual herbs. Make a coarse blend of garlic in apple cider vinegar (This is the good apple cider vinegar, the kind with the mother still in it.) and store it in a dark, cool place for four days. Filter the blend in cotton, muslin cloth, and squeeze out as much garlic juice as possible. Ultimately, you will use 8 parts apple cider vinegar and 2 parts fresh garlic juice, so use enough garlic to obtain your proportion and record the amount of vinegar used as part of its proportion and calculate the amount of garlic juice expressed. (2 to 3 pounds of garlic is a good range to use for one gallon of Anti-Plague) It takes approximately one pound of garlic to extract 8 oz of juice.
Step two you will need to make each of the follow preparation to the seventh power, distilled decoction of each of the below herbs. Each herb needs to be prepared separately. Do not use aluminum, Teflon, or cracked porcelain. You can use glass corning ware, stainless steel or whole porcelain to keep unwanted additives out of your preparations. Soak each herb, 4 ounces or 113 grams, if you are making a gallon, for four plus hours in enough distilled water to cover it completely. After soaking, add enough distilled water to bring the amount of solution to 16 ounces, 2 cups or ½ liter. Simmer the herbal solution over very low heat in a covered pan for thirty minutes. Strain the liquid into a clean pan and reduce the amount of liquid to ¼ by simmering over very low heat uncovered. Set each aside till all are prepared. Refrigerate if not completed on the same day. Herbs uses for this formula are: comfrey root, wormwood, lobelia, marshmallow, white oak, black walnut, mullein, skullcap, uva-ursi.
In step three you will warm the below ingredients to a liquid state, and the remainder of the vinegar and then add all your decoctions, mix well, let cool and store in dark bottles. Place in the refrigerator if you plan to store for a long term. The Anti-plague formula is built around garlic, which is well known as a natural antibiotic. This formula because of the garlic will destroy the unnecessary and harmful bacteria throughout the body.
In addition to the anti-plague formula the formula for colds and infections is another combination to assist in relieving colds. This formula is made up of garlic, parsley, and watercress. (Taken from Dr. Christopher School of Natural Healing book) Sometimes along with a cold or flu you will have a build up of mucus the following cough syrup will aid in cutting the extra mucus and help eliminate coughs. For this formula you will need one cup of honey, five to ten cloves of garlic, juice from one lemon, one tablespoon of sage leaf and one tablespoon of lemon peel, fresh or dried. Pour honey into a blender and the garlic cloves, lemon juice, sage leaf, and lemon peel. Blend on high speed until smooth. Let the blend steep for several days away from heat. Squeeze out the liquid, filter and bottle it for use up to one week. If you want to store it longer refrigerate.
Equally important to the cough formula is the earache oil a classic formula and a must for every family medicine chest and first-aid kit. It combines the bacteriostatic properties of mullein flowers with the antibacterial action of garlic to prevent and ease earaches, was buildup and irritation. You will need one tablespoon of fresh garlic clove, two tablespoons fresh or dried mullein flower, and half cup olive or almond oil to cover. Crush the garlic well and break up mullein flower; place herbs into blender jar. Cover with oil and blend well. Pour the mixture into a clean, clear jar and store away from heat and light. Shake the jar daily to prevent spoilage and keep the herb submerged in oil at all times. After two weeks, strain the herb for the oil and discord. Store oil in the refrigerator.
Another great formula that can be used for colds or a great tasting salad dressing is Professor Cayenne’s Super Tonic. For this formula you will need one part fresh chopped white onions or the hottest onions available. One-part fresh chopped garlic cloves, one part fresh grated ginger root, one part fresh grated horseradish root and one part fresh chopped cayenne peppers the hottest peppers available. Fill a glass jar ¾ of the way full with equal parts of the above chopped and grated herbs. Then fill to the top with raw organic unfiltered, unbleached, non-distilled apple cider vinegar. Close and shake vigorously and then top off with more vinegar if necessary. Begin this formula on the new moon and strain and bottle on the full moon. Shake bottle everyday until the full moon. Filter the mixture through a clean piece of cotton, bottle and label.
Equally important to the formula’s listed above are the following formulas from Dr. John R. Christopher: Asthma Formula, Extracts of Comfrey leaf, Mullein, Garlic and glycerin, Garlic Oil, Garlic Oil in a base of Olive Oil and Tea Tree Oil as a preservative, Respiratory Relief Syrup, Onion Juice, Garlic Juice, Fennel, Nettle, Mullein and Chickweed, Cold sore relief, Fresh Golden Seal Root, Garlic and Skullcap, Blood Circulation Formula, Cayenne, Ginger, Golden Seal, Ginseng, Parsley and Garlic, Breathing Aid Formula, Brigham Tea, Horseradish, Marshmallow, Cayenne, Garlic, Rosehips, Watercress, and Feverfew, Bowel Formula, Aloe, Senna, Cascara Sagrada, Gentian Root, Ginger Root, Garlic, Cayenne, Turkey Rhubarb, and Flax Seed, and X-Ceptic, Oak Bark, Golden Seal Root, Myrrh, Garlic and Capsicum.
To sum up these wonderful formulas listed above let’s not forget that Garlic combined with Cayenne can have powerful effects on the body. While they have the natural ability to enhance circulation and thwart bacteria, they can exhibit those common odors we all know. By adding Parsley which contains magnesium to garlic and cayenne you not only help maintain blood levels of calcium and nourish the nerves, it also has the natural ability to neutralize the malodorous effects of plants like garlic.
