My personal experience with ginseng is limited. Asian ginseng is not recommended for hot dispositions and as I tend towards being very energetic and also have hot flashes due to menopause I used the root of the American ginseng to cool and calm.  I found it to be like licorice in taste and pleasant and I am not sure whether the effects of calming and balance were due to the root or would have happened anyway.    I need to use the American ginseng further to ascertain its affect.  I later tried the Korean tea.  I made sure to ask for the Imperial seal as the government regulates the quality and so I was given the box which had the seal on.  I took six cups of tea and I think this was too much as I got a bad headache that night.  Again, I am not sure if this was from the tea or if I would have got one anyway.  I originally bought the tea in for my husband who has a mild disposition and also has had prostate problems and weakness.  I also bought in a Korean root for him, which I made a tincture with.    Since then I realized that ginseng is usually put with other herbs and so I am going to research further.  I am fascinated by the herb ginseng and look forward to learning and experiencing more.
